Actually, that would be big corporations and industry, not the US. The global economy makes that even more prevalent. US companies and other foreign market companies are guilty of this around the world.

If we became more self reliant, and discouraged companies from moving jobs overseas, or maintaining them there in the interest of record profits, US involvement in "stealing" raw materials and sweatshop labor prices would dip drastically.
