Believe It Or Not: Just Because It’s Right For You Doesn’t Mean It’s Right For The World

From business leaders to activists, from “under-represented” people to influencers, they all share one thing. They need to accept that just because it’s right for them doesn’t mean it’s suitable for the world.

Ideas are great. Unfortunately, that is where many beliefs should stay, in the lane of ideas. There are a number of simple ideas that work. They are old faithful, such as do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

However, there are ideas that don’t work well. Today, and in recent days and weeks, we are seeing firsthand which ideas are getting unexpected backlashes, and why. Regardless of how we feel about the backlashes against social causes, companies in support of certain groups, or the beliefs of popular influencers, people should approach the situations looking at both sides.

Leaving emotions out of the equation helps the rest of us to fairly examine what we’re seeing. The backlash to something might not be what you’ll understand or agree with, but look at the reasons behind a backlash.
