Children that know they're gay is something people question and I get it. How do they know they're gay at 4, 5, or 6. Two years ago my surrogate grandson came home from a visit with his father and announced that he was a girl. Some parents take that to mean the kids transgendered. That discounts kids going through phases. A year later he thinks he's a cat, and a year later a comedian that wants to be a mechanic when he grows up. I'm given to understand that before a kids 13th birthday, they change their minds repetitively. I think that is what the debate really centers on. How are young children identifying as anything other than kids and what kind of world are we in if that's in "fact" what they are doing.
