Dark Skies: Part XI

With one body and no answers, Lucas and Lizzy settle into Montgomery while a vicious killer roams the area, and Archbishop Rogers is still nowhere to be found.

An almost crushing weight loomed over the city of Montgomery. An officer’s car sat parked at the foot of the steps at the church. The other Montgomery cop patrolled, trying to keep in touch with his partner. A weight rested over the city as an acrid odor filled the air. A storm was brewing, and what it carried with it was the overpowering odor of wretchedness. Lucas sat in the doorway of a room at the hotel, sipping whiskey and breathing in the foul stench.

The air in room twelve wreaked of stale coffee and the wretched odor of the storm rolling in from the west. As Lucas sipped from a bottle, watching the clouds roll in, he sensed a change in things he couldn’t quite explain. His instincts warned him something was coming, yet he didn’t know what. It wasn’t a sensation Lucas enjoyed. He didn’t do well when things defied answers. Lucas longed for his search to be over and to return to a simpler life.

Lucas watched as Lizzy worked at the table. She successfully got the video footage from the truck stop. Now, they had to watch…
