I'd imagine there are subtle differences between fiction and non-fiction. This might be one of them. Fiction seems more like plotting your dreams and nightmares onto paper. Short of the second writer being there to help polish if they have a higher skillset as a writer, I'm not sure what else you'd want a second there for.
