The Comfort Of The Abyss
A Poem
Staring into the abyss,
A wait to fall that took too long,
Would that my life was such I’d be missed,
I feared in the end that assumption was wrong,
Dared to imagine a life so out of reach,
Dreaming of some place never found,
Now, to think it was wrong to covet such peace,
Would that I had lived life with my feet on the ground,
To dream is just natural, to find them to succeed,
A hunt many leave unfinished is the harshness of being,
Anything that would be worth it, would be worth one to bleed,
Yet it’s a life I fear that I should never be seeing.
Chances come to all,
but to all the timing is not right,
Carrying ill-timed chances we miss before we fall,
We suffer one long and endless night,
The abyss is the emptiness within which there’s no light,
Darkness surrounds, comforting its loving friend,
Endings in the abyss for those with no fight,
