You may not have heard an announcement, but the death blow was struck and there’s been a passing that hits home for me, you, and everyone we know.

A general sadness fills the air around the community today as the preparations for the funeral continue. No announcement has yet explained what happened, only the deathblow announcement that seems to have killed the community’s favorite son. The later announcement, called “B.S.” by many, came from the Medium CEO.

When Tony Stubblebine issued his statement about “Manufactured Engagement,” and the groups on Facebook felt the scorched Earth effects of that announcement, did he know it would be such a deathblow to the artistic types and creative types that might read it? Did he care?

Since then, members have felt the loss of their earnings, their daily interactions have slowed, and the community feels different. The sadness fills the rooms around desks everywhere, as people wonder why they bother.

The secondary announcement read like a disingenuous attempt at corporate covering of the old “booty.” Many on Facebook called it straight B.S. That was the sentiment of the first one.

Nobody knows what’s going on, but in light of a very productive day, with plenty of comments and perhaps my best article…
