The Price Of My Soul

Upon my eyes closing, the flashes will start,

Vivid memories come crashing down,

And all of them much less beautiful than days of art,

Ugliness fills me so well that within it I may drown,

It was never meant to be such a day,

Things don’t always work out to be fun,

Laying there, chilling, I can’t fathom what to say,

It’s in this way fortunes are lost and won,

Risk having its’ own reward,

There should have been more to the story,

A saying covers dying by the sword,

Some men are willing to, for fortune and glory,

Forgive me for my biggest mistake,

and into this life do no breed,

Of all the great men into battle, I didn’t want to take,

It’s you that I’m glad I did not let lead,

Better men, I’m not one of them, not like you,

I can only pray that you get out while you can,

Smarter men, none were smarter than you,

So get away from this life, my son, while you can,
