Unfortunately, policing is going through a change and there's a sentiment in the public that favors the monsters.
I wore a uniform for nearly 27 total years. In October, a man pulled a gun on me. Fortunately, I knew how to play the cards in front of me to downplay the chances of a shooting. When I called the police, nobody ever came. These were my brothers and sisters.
A month later it was explained that there was a miscommunication. They were more worried about bad press than taking a man with a gun off the streets, and no case was ever filed in court.
I feel your frustration. I had a guy dead to rights on a heinous crime against a child. A confession that was unimpeachable, thank god, but partially due to my lack of tolerance for such things. He was given six months county time and released to do it not one more time, but two more times.
The confession he gave me was direct, detailed, and disgusting to sit through and frankly I think traumatized me to have to sit and listen to the filth and disgusting details he chose to share. I've never understood why someone who does such things, or enters into that world of depravity toward our youth, is given anything more than a public hanging.
I hope you can find a way to live peacefully, but vigilant against the hordes at the gates. As the world spins out of control and into an immoral hell scape, I fear there's a bigger storm coming and we're not ready.
